DO you know a certain little someone who is only happy when building something and getting their hands dirty? Is your house full of paper mache creations? Do you wake up each morning to the sound of a superstar singing in their bedroom?

If so, you may wish to direct those energies towards Paper Planes and Daisy Chains, the Theatre Making for Crafty Young Creatives workshops, whose second term at the Grand Opera House in York begins on January 13 and will run each Tuesday from 4pm to 5.30pm.

The weekly lessons are suitable for complete beginners aged five to 11 and cost £8 per session and there will be a maximum capacity of 20 children per class, first come, first served.

"Paper Planes and Daisy Chains offers a rounded theatre-making experience covering all aspects of putting on a performance, from acting and singing, to mask and puppet making, and our workshop leaders are all professionals working in theatre and visual arts," says Roxanna Klimaszewska, director of the Cumberland Street theatre's resident youth theatre.

"We're delighted to be returning to the Grand Opera House for a longer term, having had such a lovely response to our initial ten-week taster in the autumn and winter of 2014, and we're now welcoming new sign-ups for the new term."

Paper Planes' workshops are tailored to encourage youngsters to learn how to use their creativity while having fun, and making friends. "We provide a creative environment for youngsters to express themselves, offering activities to develop and initiate their own creativity and ideas, with opportunities to contribute to group tasks and to explore different mediums of performance and theatre making," says Roxanna.

Any interested parties can contact Paper Planes by emailing info@paperplanesanddaisychains.co.uk or by calling 01904 345671 for further information or to make bookings.

"Alternatively, feel free to get in touch with me directly on 07500 069412 with any questions or just turn up on a Tuesday at 4pm," says Roxanna.

Paper Planes and Daisy Chains is a multi-sensory interactive company that emerged from the 2012 Cultural Olympiad to make fun theatre for five to 11 year olds, promoting healthy lifestyle and positive body image through performing promenade shows that educate and engage.

Artistic directors Chris Wilkinson and Stuart Freestone are both trained teachers with a flair for performance and a passion for sport. "We have a commitment to help the young and impressionable to distinguish and identify realistic and healthy body principles in an over-photoshopped and media-driven world," they say. "We all come in different shapes and sizes, making us each unique and beautiful."
