THE Oddsocks gang from Derbyshire are back in York on Saturday, this time with a Kenneth Grahame tale of boats, trains and washerwomen, rather than a shaken and stirred blast of Shakespeare.

A brand new adaptation of The Wind In The Willows will be presented at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, where you are invited to join Mole, Ratty, Badger and the boisterous, bumptious, loud and lovable Toad as the adventure of a lifetime unravels on the riverbank. Watch out for dangerous weasels, stoats and ferrets from the wild wood along the way.

Elli Mackenzie, Oddsocks co-founder and producer, will play Mole. "In our latest adventure, there'll be big characters, tons of action, live music and laughter. Lots of it!" she says. "The York audience will be transported to a riverbank in the 1920s and can expect to come away feeling happier than when they came in!"

Oddsocks Productions are touring 15 venues for 60 performances all over Britain and the Channel Islands." You too can come and join the adventure, a classic British text re-imagined for a new decade of families," says Elli, who is joined on the riverbank by Joseph Maudsley's Ratty, Dom Gee-Burch's Badger, Andrew McGillan's Toad and Rosamund Hine's Otter.

Grahame's story has been adapted and directed by Elli's husband, Oddsocks co-founder Andy Barrow, and the production team also includes young producer Hope Ward-Brown, costume designer Vanessa Anderson and composer Lucy Ward.

Tickets for the 7.30pm performance in York are on sale on 01332 258328 or at oddsocks.co.uk
