Talented children and teenagers showed their parents why they wowed a London West End audience with their modern interpretation of Romeo and Juliet.
The 90 students of Razzamataz York gave a performance based on the musical West Side Story complete with riots and break dancing at Her Majesty's Theatre, London, this autumn.
When they returned to their own city, they staged a special invite performance for their parents at York High School.
"They thought it was fantastic," said principal Angela Pickup after the performance. "It was quite unique and it went down very well with the London audience as well."
It is the second time the performing arts school has appeared at the West End theatre. It has the chance to compete for the opportunity every two years and succeeded in 2012. It has already put in its application for 2016.
West Side Story, by Leonard Bernstein, moves the tragical love story to New York in the 20th century and pits two teenage gangs, the Caucasian Jets and the Hispanic Sharks against each other.
