YORK company Lockewood Theatre are postponing their November production of Frankenstein at the Black Swan Inn, Peasholme Green, York, until the New Year.

Adapted and directed by Peter Marshall and edited by Lee Gemmell, with music and sound by Viaperformance and Ollie Mills, the premiere now will be staged between January 23 and February 1.

"The show is only 60 per cent ready and we want to get it absolutely right," says Lee, who will be performing in the two-hander with Peter.

In a study of terror and obsession, Lockewood Theatre will (eventually!) bring to life Victor Frankenstein's final hours aboard the Vladislav, a frozen whaling vessel locked in the Arctic ice.

Amid talk of a mutiny, crippling hypothermia, and something nameless stalking him out in the fog, Victor is struggling against time to tell his story to a Captain who is starting to appear chillingly familiar.

"Set within the creaking walls of the ship's cabin, our immersive adaption will aim to faithfully explore the obsession and haunting atmosphere of Mary Shelley's masterpiece in the beautiful function room of the Grade II listed Black Swan, complete with live music and sound from Viaperformance," says Peter.

Tickets for the rearranged performances will cost £10, concessions £8, children £5, on 01904623568 or on the door.
