INTERNATIONAL opera producer Ellen Kent is bringing Puccini’s Madama Butterfly to the Grand Opera House, York, on November 8, with an accompanying competition and prize draw for The Press readers to the overall value of £750.

All great operas have a love story at their core, and to celebrate Ellen Kent’s autumn tour, What’s On is offering the chance to win a romantic two-night break for two people in Paris, courtesy of Ellen Kent and Opera & Ballet International.

The winner will travel on the Eurostar from London to Paris, stay for two nights B&B in a beautiful four-star hotel, and enjoy a romantic meal with their loved one. In addition, he or she will receive a pair of tickets to an Ellen Kent production at the venue of their choice on the Spring 2015 tour.

Three readers also will win tickets for the 7.30pm performance of Madama Butterfly on November 8 in York, which will feature Korean soprano Elena Dee and Japanese soprano Miki Mori in a production with sets and a Japanese garden designed by Ukrainian designer Nadia Shvets from the National Ukrainian Opera of Kharkiv.

Ellen’s touring production will bring together soloists from the national operas of Odessa, Spain and Rostov, who will be accompanied by the Chisinau National Philharmonic.
