...Robert Duncan, who plays Hugo Snow in The Small Hand

How do you portray a character whose ultimate role is to scare the audience, Robert?

“Imagination is the most wonderful thing; one is blessed and cursed with it.

"Blessed in the sense because you can imagine oneself and cursed because sometimes one finds oneself in a situation where you can’t explain something. And heightening that sense of imagination within the audience, to believe there are things that go bump in the night, who was that figure in the corner of one’s eye, the usual kind of stuff.

"I think it’s very much in the M. R. James territory, and quintessentially, something very English about it. And we’re doing it at the right time of year, the nights are drawing in, Hallowe’en is approaching.”
