EASINGWOLD will play host to its second LittleFest this weekend as part of the On Our Turf collaboration between York Theatre Royal and four Yorkshire market towns.

Music, theatre, poetry, art and installations will make up Saturday and Sunday's programme, in which Yorkshire performers and national companies will put on their work for free.

Both days will kick off at 11am and climax with music in two of Easingwold’s pubs, The Angel on Saturday and The New Inn on Sunday night. Buskers will pop up in shops, hairdressers and cafes across the weekend, while shows for children will be staged on both days.

TongueTied Theatre will bring out their very own pirate ship on Saturday to present the zany, interactive outdoor adventure The Revenge Of Mr Trout on the grass outside the Galtres Centre at 12.15pm. Forward Theatre Project will perform Birds, a beautiful story of flight, freedom and man's relationship with nature, told though music and puppetry, on Sunday at 1.45pm.

Mike Barfield, writer, Private Eye cartoonist, poet and performer, will entertain families at Easingwold Library at 11am on Saturday with his How To Swat A Fly show, a fly's guide to staying alive, and he will be be displaying original artworks in The Olive Branch too.

North Yorkshire performer Jessa Liversidge will showcase her First World War show, Keep The Home Fires Burning, as well as leading The Big Sing on Saturday; The Flanagan Collective will hold play readings of Something Small and Love Story on both days and Gobbledigook favourites Phil Grainger and David Jarman will perform their folk, soul and hip hop music on both evenings. They will feature alongside Beth McCarthy, the York singer-songwriter from BBC1 talent show The Voice, who will be playing on Sunday evening before the festival comes to a close with gipsy folk band Leather’o.

The LittleFest double decker bus will be parked up in the market square and will host loom band workshops and craft activities for youngsters.

You can pick up a full festival programme from the bus and this is also the starting point for this year’s Town Trail, which will take you around more than 20 shop window displays of elaborate installations based on song titles for you to guess. There will be a prize for the best shop window and correct quiz sheets will be entered into a prize draw for York Theatre Royal tickets.

Alexander Wright, producer for On Our Turf, says: "There’s so much to see and do across the weekend in Easingwold. Once again, local businesses have been incredible and enthusiastic when we've asked them to host performances or come up with their shop window displays.

"The team putting the festival together in Easingwold have certainly made sure there’s a good range of activities and performances to suit the whole family and it’s set to be a fantastic weekend. It’s free, so come and explore; try something new and have fun.."
