It looks like Noel Fielding is rediscovering an interest in sugar since joining The Great British Bake Off – starting with the cereal aisle.

In his first Twitter post since making his presenter debut on the Channel 4 baking show, he shared a photo of a shelf of cereal boxes that he had spotted printed in landscape.

Tickled by the unusual format, he wrote: “Since when did cereal go landscape ha ha ha x”

His light-hearted update comes days after he impressed sceptical Bake Off fans across the nation with his appearance alongside Sandi Toksvig on the programme, taking over from former presenting duo Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc.

The show’s first episode since moving from the BBC was aired on Tuesday to rave reviews.

The decision to cast Fielding in the revamped team, which also includes Prue Leith taking the place of Mary Berry as judge, divided some viewers – especially following his confession that he does not eat cake and avoids sugar.

But fans could not resist jumping on his breakfast-based post with puns of their own, with one replying: “That’s not cereal, that’s surreal…”

“Hang in there, Coco Pops, don’t let them do it to you too! #PrayForCocoPops,” added another, while one suggested: “That’s so you can have your breakfast while laying on your side!”

Fielding returns to screens next week as The Great British Bake Off continues on Channel 4.
