The husband of Jennifer Aniston says the divorce of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is “terrible news” for the couple’s six children.

Actor Justin Theroux, who married Brad’s ex-wife Jen last year, commented on the high-profile split while promoting his new film, The Girl On The Train.

He told Business Insider: “As a child of divorce, all I can say is that’s terrible news for those children, and that’s all you can really say. It’s boring to sort of comment on anything else. People are having a bad time — that’s horrible.”

Angelina and Brad first met when they played married spies in the 2005 film Mr And Mrs Smith, when he was still married to Friends star Jen.

Justin, who tied the knot with Jen in August 2015, said it was “nonsense” that she should be included in reports about the divorce.

He said: “There’s an endless appetite for trash, apparently, though everyone would say that they don’t have that appetite. But I think a lot of people do because people buy it.

“It’s shocking how much bandwidth things can take up when there are far more important things going on in the world.”

Angelina, 41, filed for divorce from Brad, 52, last week, citing irreconcilable differences. She has asked for physical custody of the couple’s six children – Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10 and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

The FBI has said it is considering an investigation into an alleged altercation between Brad and one of his children on a private plane. Several media outlets, using anonymous sources, reported that the Ocean’s Eleven star was under investigation by a child welfare agency after allegedly clashing with his adopted son Maddox.
