Alesha Dixon has ruled out a Strictly Come Dancing comeback.

With head judge Len Goodman stepping down at the end of the next series, fans had speculated that Alesha could make a return to the panel.

The former Mis-Teeq singer and 2007 Strictly champion replaced Arlene Phillips on the judging panel in 2009 and stayed for three series.

During an AOL Build interview with The Huffington Post’s Matthew Bagwell, Alesha said: “For me, I think it’s about moving forward.

“I’m really sad that Len’s leaving, but I totally understand. I had a great catch-up with Bruno (Tonioli) recently and it’s a massive deal because he’s been there from the start, but I understand.

“But no, I certainly wouldn’t be going back.”

Former judge Arlene Phillips recently told the Press Association that she would consider a return to the BBC celebrity dancing contest.

When Matthew told Dixon that her predecessor could make a return, she joked: “I’m sure.”

The 37-year-old indicated she would prefer it if Arlene did not take the vacant seat, explaining: “Personally I think it could work with the three. No shade, no shade.

“It works with three in America so why can’t it work with three in the UK? Just have Craig (Revel Horwood) as the head judge.”

Alesha, who is currently a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, said she had been taking acting lessons and was having “conversations” about transitioning into musical theatre.

She said: “I would love 100% to do that because it sort of ticks all the boxes of the things that I absolutely love.”

She added: “I have actually started having acting classes because I just wanted to test the waters – and I would love to do something that has music at the heart of it.”

Alesha has kept her personal life private, closely guarding details of her relationship with partner Azuka Ononye and their young daughter, Azura.

The singer and TV presenter said she was not a fan of celebrities who flaunt new relationships after a break-up.

She said: “Why is it famous people, when they split up with someone, before you’ve even blinked or had your dinner, they’re with someone else. Literally.”

Asked about Taylor Swift, who has moved on quickly with Tom Hiddleston after splitting from Calvin Harris, she said: “Not even just Taylor Swift… If you’ve been in a serious relationship and you’re in the public eye, how can you just blink your eye and then the next day you’re just happy to be out parading around with your next boyfriend?

“Fair play to people for living their life, but at the same time, you can’t then complain about people talking and speculating about your relationship when you just throw it out there so willy-nilly.

“So I took pride in really getting to know my partner privately.”
