In a tweet posted on his official page, 44-year-old film director Jones also said he would resume activity on social media.

Best known for directing the science fiction film Moon, he will helm the upcoming adaptation of Warcraft.

Duncan is the only child from the 10-year marriage of the late pop star and Angie Bowie, who was a recent contestant in the Celebrity Big Brother house.

Ms Bowie recently praised her ex-husband for the “staging” of his death, but admitted she doubted whether she would ever see their son again.

Meanwhile, Sony is said to be developing a new take on Labyrinth, originally directed by Muppets creator Jim Henson, which starred Bowie.

Lisa Henson of the Henson Company, daughter of the late puppeteer and filmmaker, will produce, according to Variety.

The original 1986 fantasy movie starred a 15-year-old Jennifer
Connelly as Sarah Williams. The teenager had to save her infant brother from Jareth the Goblin King, played by David.

The multi-award winning artist also recorded five songs for the film, including Underground and As The World Falls Down.
