Alesha Dixon has revealed that her two-year-old daughter inspired her latest role.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge will voice Winnie the tiger in Disney Junior’s award-winning series Doc McStuffins, which she said is her daughter Azura’s favourite show.
The singer said: “I spend most of my time, and most of my day when I’m with my daughter talking about Doc and watching Doc McStuffins. And to be here, voicing a character in the show is really surreal and incredible.
“I enjoy watching it as much as my daughter enjoys watching it. Doc has become her new role model and her best friend, and we can’t go anywhere without Doc, so when I got the call to do this it was a no brainer.”
She added: “I’m a big fan of the show, and my little girl’s going to get to hear my voice in her favourite show which is wonderful.”
Alesha follows in the footsteps of Doc McStuffins’s previous high-profile celebrity guest stars, including First Lady Michelle Obama and Downton Abbey stars Joanne Froggatt and Lesley Nicol.
“My favourite character on the show is by far Doc. She is an incredible role model – she’s a female doctor, she’s strong willed, she’s smart, she’s kind, she’s compassionate, and she celebrates everything wonderful about being a woman,” the 37-year-old mother-of-one explained.
“It’s so refreshing to see such a powerful female in a lead role in an animation.”
She continued: “When I think back to when I was growing up I don’t remember characters as strong as Doc McStuffins, so for me it’s just a joy to watch because it feels really fresh and it feels important, and it feels like since Doc McStuffins has come along, she has made an impact all around the world.”
Alesha Dixon’s guest appearance on Doc McStuffins will be shown on the episode titled Winded Winnie, which will premiere on Disney Junior in 2016.
