Ex royal butler Paul Burrell has been giving away The Queen’s money secrets on TV.

The former butler to the late Princess Diana is currently appearing in Celebrity Big Brother where he was quizzed by ex Apprentice contestant James Hill about whether Her Majesty carries cash.

Paul revealed: “Yes, she carries around a £5 note that is ironed into little squares, so that it’s finished up with one little square with her face on it.

“She then pops it into the collection box on a Sunday. That’s the only time she carries money. I wonder if she’s watching this.”

Paul, who published his memoirs in 2003 and has since made a career out of appearing on reality shows, also spoke about the night Diana died in 1997.

He told his fellow housemates: “It was probably the saddest day of my life.”

He recalled the Princess had phoned him from Paris on that ill fated night and she allegedly asked him to reassure her that he would be at home waiting for her when she returned.

When asked why Diana needed him to reassure her, Paul replied she was “desperately lonely”.
