“Never is an awfully long time” – and now fans will have to wait even longer to see Peter Pan prequel movie Pan.
The cinema release date for Joe Wright’s retelling of JM Barrie’s classic tale has been put back until October, Warner Bros has announced, in a bid to avoid the “cluttered” schedule of summer blockbuster openings.
Pan – starring Hugh Jackman as pirate villain Blackbeard, Garrett Hedlund as a young Hook and Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily – was originally due out on July 24, going up against Marvel’s Ant-Man and the latest Mission: Impossible sequel.
The film, which also stars Amanda Seyfried, Cara Delevingne, and Levi Miller as the young Peter Pan, will now hit cinemas on October 9.
Set during WWII, the story sees orphan Peter kidnapped by pirates and brought to Neverland, where he discovers he’s destined to save the land from Blackbeard.
