The highlight of our weekend returned this evening showcasing another instalment of all the weird and wonderful talent Britain has to offer.

David Walliams, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell sat in front of their big red buttons ready to shatter life-long dreams and aspirations of performing at the Royal Variety Performance.

While there were enough eyebrow-raising acts to last a lifetime there were also a handful of impressive ones at that.

Here are some of the acts that had our jaws dropping to the floor – in a good way…

1. This unassuming young girl was the first to grace the stage but nothing could quite prepare us for what was to follow.

Wielding a samurai sword, nine-year-old Jesse Jane McParland stunned the judges with her impressive moves with weaponry before skipping off with four yeses.

“I should hire you to be my bodyguard,” Simon said.

2. When a group of five rather attractive guys stepped on stage both the judges and audience had pretty high hopes for the fivesome.

Considering they were a dance group, the oddly-named Boyband managed to wow with their moves earning a push of the golden buzzer and standing ovation from both the audience and judges.

3. Becky O’Brien was next to perform in front of the judges to sing her heart out, after her eldest of five children urged her to “show Simon Cowell how it’s done”.

Nobody could’ve prepared themselves for the her amazing rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow – especially not Simon.

“Wow I was not expected that. Your voice is so authentic, so beautiful. You are the reason we make shows like this,” he said.

4. Aspiring magicians flock to Britain’s Got Talent in the hundreds yet none are quite like Jamie Raven.

The judges and audiences alike were absolutely stunned by Jamie’s tricks as he stepped up to David, Alesha, Amanda and Simon to give them a taste of his work.

5. One act never fails to melt our hearts and in this episode, it was Henry Gallagher who sung his heart out to one of his own tunes.

The 12-year-old had penned his song Lighting about a girl at his school who he harbours a secret crush on.

“The lyrics are about the way I felt when I first saw her and if she saw it I think she’d notice me – and hopefully go out with me!”
