Ansel Elgort has revealed he wants his career to be driven by art, not money.

The 20-year-old actor, who starred in The Fault In Our Stars and Divergent, told Details magazine that his number one goal is to make enough cash to buy a home, so he can then focus on his creative passions.

“That’s one reason I want to buy a house now. So I can have my place and not worry about money,” he said.

“Then I can do plays. Do Broadway. Make whatever movie I want and not feel like, ‘Well, I have to pay a mortgage and take this job and that job.’ The minute you start thinking, ‘I don’t want to do that, but it’ll make me money,’ is when you start f***ing yourself.”

He added: “I don’t want money to ever drive my career. I want my career to be driven by what I want to do in art.”

Ansel, who also DJs under the moniker Ansolo, said he has no interest in playing at celebrity hotspots.

“The club scene is terrible,” he said. “I love playing places where it’s about having a good time, not about whose d**k is the biggest.

“I just make whatever music I want. It’s my obsession, and it’s very fulfilling.”
