Hollyoaks star Kirsty-Leigh Porter has already pictured her character’s big day – and it will be a vintage one.
The 26-year-old actress’ alter-ego Leela Lomax has proposed to boyfriend Ziggy Roscoe (Fabrizio Santino), after discovering her ex Cameron Campbell (Cameron Moore) was responsible for the deaths of her parents on the Channel 4 soap.
“I’d love for Leela to make an effort for once. She’s a bit of a tomboy, so it would be nice to ditch all that and go with the glamour,” she told Inside Soap.
“I’d like her to wear a vintage dress. I’m usually only in wardrobe and make-up for about half an hour, so it’d be lovely to sit in the chair for a full 90 minutes!”
Despite the engagement, Kirsty-Leigh said Leela still has strong feelings for Cameron.
“Cameron will always be Leela’s true love. It wasn’t that she wanted to end her relationship – Leela was happy with Cameron and was enjoying being a little family with him and Peri,” she said.
“But the fact that he killed her parents was just too big a betrayal, and that’s why she went back to Ziggy. I think her head is with one man, and her heart with another.”
Kirsty-Leigh added: “She couldn’t have carried on with the fella who murdered her mum and dad. Ziggy’s a good bloke … so Leela thinks, ‘Great, let’s get married and make all our problems go away’.”
The former Emmerdale actress, who joined Hollyoaks in 2013, loves working with both her male co-stars.
“I’m very lucky to be working with two gorgeous guys,” she said. “Fab is great. Our scenes are normally a lot of fun and very light-hearted.
“Working with Cameron is completely different because all our scenes are really deep and emotional. I get the best of both worlds.”
