Douglas Booth has revealed he always laughs off any rumours of romance between him and his female friends.

The Riot Club star has been linked to his LOL co-stars Miley Cyrus and Ashley Greene, as well as his Romeo And Juliet co-star Hailee Steinfeld and singer Taylor Swift.

"To start with, it's all a bunch of rubbish. So I just laugh it off," the 22-year-old actor said.

"You go for dinner with a friend and the next second, you're dating. No. I know who my friends are. It's silly. I don't worry about it."

Douglas, who plays posh student Harry Villiers in The Riot Club, admitted he was hung-over as he rehearsed the film's fencing scenes.

"I had to do some training for that. It was great fun except it was the morning after my 21st birthday and I felt a bit sore," he said.

"I love to fence. I'm OK at it, I was better than I thought I'd be because my hand-eye coordination is terrible. But I managed to do it OK despite the hangover."

The film, directed by Lone Scherfig, is based on Laura Wade's 2010 play Posh, and has been described as a fictionalised version of the Bullingdon Club.

"It's all about entitlement and elitism and it made me question quite a lot of things. I didn't set out to make a political film, but it's probably going to be a political film by resonance," he said. "It's about education on a certain level, but it's also about a decaying aristocratic society, the crumbling aristocracy that is trying to keep their world alive in some way."
