Jennifer Lopez has announced she is publishing her first book - revealing all about her life as a star and a mother.

The 45-year-old actress, singer, American Idol judge and fashionista is publishing True Love with Penguin books in November.

J-Lo tweeted: "I have some exciting news to share with you... Hola JLovers, my first book #TrueLove will be released Nov 4."

Jennifer describes the book as "an honest and revealing personal diary" focusing on two years of her life she describes as "defining" and "transformative".

The mother to eight-year-old twins Max and Emme has had a colourful personal life, with her exes including rapper P Diddy, actor Ben Affleck and fellow musician Marc Anthony, the latter being her ex-husband and father of her children.

She began dating 27-year-old dancer Casper Smart in 2011 and they split earlier this year, but have remained friends.

The book's blurb on the Penguin website reveals: "In True Love, Lopez explores one of her life's most defining periods - the transformative two-year journey of how, as an artist and a mother, she confronted her greatest challenges, identified her biggest fears, and ultimately emerged a stronger person than she's ever been.

"This visually arresting publication is guided by both intimate and electrifying never-before-seen photographs. True Love is an honest and revealing personal diary with hard-won lessons and heartfelt recollections and an empowering story of self-reflection, rediscovery, and resilience."
