Scarlett Johansson had to have three stunt doubles to hide her baby bump in the new Avengers movie.

The actress got pregnant shortly before she was due to reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, but filmmakers employed three people to step in for the action scenes to hide Scarlett's growing tummy, reported E! News.

Director Joss Whedon told Entertainment Weekly: "She's not going to spend the whole movie carrying groceries.

"We didn't trim any scenes. We're like, 'We'll make it work'."

Scarlett's co-star Chris Evans, who plays Captain America in the films, joked that he was confused by the Scarlett lookalikes.

He said: "It's always funny. You walk by, 'Hey, Scarlett - oh, weird. You're not Scarlett at all. Sorry.' A lot of fake Scarletts around."

Scarlett's baby, with French fiance Romain Dauriac, is due later this year.

The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, directed by Joss Whedon, will be released in 2015.
