Solange Knowles has insisted "my family and I are all good", as she spoke for the first time about her elevator bust-up with Jay Z.

The singer was caught on CCTV apparently attacking her brother-in-law during a row in an elevator in a New York hotel in May this year, while her older sister Beyonce looked on. The video was then leaked online.

Solange has opened up to Lucky magazine, speaking about the incident - which she referred to as "that thing" for the first time.

She said: "What's important is that my family and I are all good. What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that."

The magazined said the lift argument was a subject "she expects in conversation but one she doesn't want to focus on".

The incident happened after the three had attended the Met Gala Ball.

The joint statement Solange, Beyonce and Jay Z released in May said: "As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it.

"Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both have apologised to each other and we have moved forward as a united family."

Solange, 28, who has a nine-year-old son Julez, also spoke to Lucky about the family values instilled in her by her parents.

She said: "We've always held each other down no matter what...

"I can't think of one time where I ever felt like I was going to break. That's because I had confidence instilled in me by my parents. They didn't always like it - in fact, most of the time they didn't - but they never asked me to change."
