One Direction's Niall Horan and Liam Payne took the day off from being pop stars to watch the tennis at Wimbledon.

The pin-ups sat in the Royal Box to take in the action on Centre Court, along with Pippa Middleton and her brother James.

They joined Olympians Sir Steve Redgrave and Denise Lewis and Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery in the exclusive area.

Guernsey-born British number one Heather Watson, 22, was continuing her bid for Wimbledon glory, playing Angelique Kerber from Germany.

Meanwhile, One Direction pin-ups Niall and Liam walked among tennis fans before play began, and Niall acknowledged people who recognised them.

When asked what he was most excited about at Wimbledon, Niall, the band's only Irish member, said: "No questions."

He later added: "It's my day off."

Pippa chatted with TV star Michelle, who was sitting near her in the Royal Box.

British tennis player Laura Robson, who was ruled out of this year's Championships due to injury, tweeted a photograph of herself with Niall showing off charity wristbands.

She wrote: "Hi Niall, I like your wristband."

The Rally for Bally wristband is for a fundraising appeal in memory of tennis player Elena Baltacha who died from liver cancer this year.

The One Direction duo left the grounds before the end of Watson's match.
