Darcey Bussell has revealed she has no idea how long her Strictly Come Dancing role will last.

The retired ballerina took over from Alesha Dixon on the judging panel alongside Len Goodman, Bruce Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood in 2012, following a brief stint in 2009.

"I don't know if I am a permanent fixture," she told Digital Spy, adding that she has yet to sign up to the upcoming 12th series.

"I have no idea actually, I just take one day at a time at the moment. I'm not contracted yet. I'm still waiting to hear."

Darcey said she wouldn't want to take over from Sir Bruce Forsyth when he decides to step down from his hosting role.

"No way! I'm very happy where I am," she said.

The 44-year-old mother-of-two joked that Craig has toned down his acerbic nature: "I think he has mellowed, definitely being next to me. I've softened him!"

Darcey revealed why she has not joined her fellow judges on the Strictly live tour, saying she prefers to have the time off.

"I've been on tour all my life and I have to say it's really nice to stay at home and be with my kids," she said.

"When the live show's on for the three odd months that it's on, that's brilliant and it's very exciting. The guys have been doing it for a long time and I'll leave them to it," she added.
