An average of 10.8 million people tuned in to watch as Selasi Gbormittah lost his place in The Great British Bake Off as the semi-final aired on Wednesday evening.
The laid-back Ghanaian banker fell at the final hurdle, failing to secure a place in the last episode of the BBC series before it moves to Channel 4.
The penultimate episode of the seventh series scored a 44.8% audience share and had a peak of 11.6 million viewers.
The figures do not include fans watching on catch-up services.
Bake Off is one of the most watched programmes of 2016, with the first two episodes attracting audiences of 13.6 million and 13.5 million respectively.
Ratings data suggests that around 10 million are tuning in for the show during its broadcast, with three million viewing on catch-up.
The Great British Bake Off will have its last outing on the BBC next Wednesday night as finalists Candice Brown, Jane Beedle and Andrew Smyth compete for the title.
