Ralf Little and Alistair McGowan have walked the green carpet for the premiere of new children's animated movie The Unbeatables at Leicester Square and revealed how their love of football brought them to the role.

The movie brings to life characters from a table football game and McGowan said the plot plays out every little boy's dream.

"It's such an interesting idea, it's the sort of thing you dream about when you are a seven and eight-year-old kid, so I'm sure this film will be like a dream for a lot of people," the impressionist said.

Alistair, who plays the commentator at the end of the film, did a series of footballing impressions which included Jose Mourinho, Roy Hodgson and Arsene Wenger, but he denied that the inspiration for his character's voice came from Welsh footballing pundit, Robbie Savage.

"He's not based on anyone particularly but he's quite close to somebody that we might know."

Ralf, who has just finished filming 1930s period drama Our Zoo - a dramatisation of the founding of Chester Zoo - said voicing the captain of the table football team was the ideal role for him.

"I am horribly competitive and I am a very bad loser and quite an ungracious winner so I think this is a perfect film for me."

The Unbeatables is out in cinemas on August 15.
