THE greatest coup yet for the Leeds First Direct Arena is Bette Midler, whose July 15 gig goes on sale tomorrow.

Apart from television appearances and two Royal Variety Performances, the last chance Brits had to see Bette was two shows at the London Palladium in 1978.

Expect to hear songs from It’s The Girls, her glorious celebration of the girl groups over the decades.

Everyone including The Boswell Sisters, The Shirelles, The Shangri-Las, and TLC have been lovingly made over and updated on this splendid compilation of classics and long-lost gems.

Songs include Be My Baby, Mr Sandman, Bei Mir Bist Du Schon, Tell Him and a wonderfully vibrant Give Him A Great Big Kiss.

Overseen by Hairspray composer Marc Saiman and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory producer Scott M Riesett, the project is a full-scale Broadway production. For the best ‘fabulosity’ ever, grab one of the pink vinyl editions, with the best 12in album sleeve of the year.
