GIVEN the huge commercial success of Erasure and their vast back catalogue of hit singles, it is astonishing how few main stream artists have covered songs written by Vince Clarke and Andy Bell.

Only Dollar’s cheesy cover of Oh L’Amour and Bjorn’s cheeky Erasurish CD reached the charts, although things seem to be changing and keen-eyed collectors may discover recent tracks by Kim Wilde and Wheatus.

Could a full scale Erasure renaissance be on the cards? Regardless, the fact that Erasure exist in their own bubble, supported by a cottage industry-style management, has not stopped the band from chalking up more than 25 million sales from their 16 albums, the latest of which sees the band back in the Top 20. Established fans of the hit singles and the classic albums will find much to love on this upbeat, business-as-usual electronic fun feast.

In particular Dead of Night, Stayed A Little Late Tonight and Elevation are likely crowd pleasers on the Erasure tour in November.
