WHAT’S not to like here? Songs by perhaps the wittiest composer in history, played by one of the most celebrated orchestras on earth – to say this is a virtuoso performance is an understatement.

John Wilson’s hand-picked ensemble of players from orchestras across Europe are is one of the most eagerly anticipated acts at the Proms. and While playing at such an event has to be any musician’s highlight, few have a chance to let their hair down.

That’s not a charge you could level against this lot and to mark the 50th anniversary of Porter’s death, Wilson has selected some of his finest songs, sprinkled them with razzle and dazzle to produce a glamorous package. Got You Under My Skin, Anything Goes, Begin The Beguine, My Heart Belongs To Daddy, but also numbers that shine out from lesser-known films.

This has been described as technicolor for the ears and it’s wonderful stuff. The perfect soundtrack to any Sunday morning.
