MORE Jimi Hendrix re-releases? Can there be anything left to reissue? Well, for newer Hendrix fans, these two posthumous albums have long been out of print.

Cry Of Love was last issued on CD in 1992 and Rainbow Bridge has never been officially released in this format.

Both albums have been remastered and were originally compiled and mixed by Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell and engineer Eddie Kramer from a wealth of studio material recorded by Hendrix at the Electric Lady Studios in New York before his untimely death in September 1970.

Most tracks feature Hendrix, Mitchell and bassist Billy Cox, and are a reminder of the guitarist’s genius, while revealing tantalising glimpses of the direction his music could have taken.

The Cry Of Love features standout tracks such as Angel and Freedom while, for me, a studio recording of Star Spangled Banner and a live version of Hear My Train A Comin’ is a highlight on Rainbow Bridge.
