GETTING older doesn’t obviously effect the Norwegian heartthrob, who here shows off his thoughtful side.

Harket is by far the most productive of the A-ha trio (Paul Waaktaar-Savoy is also preparing a new record), and while this lacks the glamour of 2012’s Out of My Hands it makes up for it with poise. Harket and co-conspirator Peter Kvint cooked up a batch of 15 songs over a two-year period, including a writing trip to the Amazon.

The 10 tracks here are relatively slim pickings all things considered. The first five songs are fantastic, from the sombre growing apart of the title track to the soaring Do You Remember Me? Through to the catchy musicality of Safe With Me. This standard falls away and even Harket’s mercurial voice struggles to invest poet Ole Sverre Olsen’s lines “We got so many faces/ we’ve only got one heart” with any real feeling.

He is on safer territory with skin deep issues. A shame he looks so smug in the sleeve photos, but half a terrific album is still better than most, especially at his age.
