Amore free concert

THE new all-British opera quartet Amore are celebrating The Queen's Diamond Jubilee by offering their vocal talents free of charge on a 30-day tour that brings them to York Minster next Wednesday (May 23) at 2pm.

Baritone Peter Brathwaite, tenor David Webb, mezzo soprano Victoria Gray and soprano Monica McGhee are mounting a Serenading Britain campaign to herald next Monday’s (May 21) release of their debut single, Brindisi, and the arrival of their debut album, Stand Together, on May 28 on Warner Brothers Records.

"We're not trying to make opera cool or sexy," says David Webb says. "It already is cool and sexy. It's also funny and tragic and amazing."

Visitors can enter York Minster with a 241 ticket on May 23, with the voucher being valid on adult admission from 1pm to 2pm on that day only. To redeem the voucher, go to the York Minster Facebook page, yorkminster.org, or Twitter @York_Minster.
