THE original Happy Mondays line-up of Shaun Ryder, Paul Ryder, Bez, Gary Whelan, Mark Day, Paul Davies and Rowetta, who have reassembled for the first time in 19 years to play 11 dates this month.
On Thursday, they head to the Leeds 02 Academy, joined by special guests and fellow Mancunians Inspiral Carpets, who have newly reformed.
“When we all met up, some of the lads haven’t seen each other in more than ten, 15 years,” says Shaun Ryder. “It’s as if we’ve never been apart – so good to all be in the same room again.”
They will play “the songs that made us famous”, among them Step On, Kinky Afro, Hallelujah and 24 Hour Party People. For tickets, phone 0844 477 2000.
