Katy B for free

ONE of the UK’s rising music stars is set to perform at a free event in York to celebrate the Olympic Torch coming to York.

Katy B, who has released a single with Mark Ronson to mark the Olympic celebrations, will perform at the party at York Racecourse on June 19.

The unticketed celebration will be open to all and people who want to join in are invited to tell City of York Council that they’re coming to the party by going to york.gov.uk/yorkgold2012

Also on stage will be former Blue Peter presenter Andy Akinwolere, local African drumming groups Umbu and Calabash and University of York’s gospel choir Zamar.

Katy B said: “London 2012 is such a huge moment for the UK and I can’t wait to help spread the excitement in York as the Olympic Torch makes its historic journey around the country.”

The celebration, which will start at 11am, will also include activities including basketball, cheer-leading, table tennis and equestrian sports.
