SINCE emerging from the British festival scene, Somerset’s Ozric Tentacles have released close to 25 albums.

The latest studio set, Paper Monkeys, was issued on their own Dovetail & Stretchy label on April 9 and is being promoted on a nine-date tour that includes The Wardobe in Leeds on Thursday and Fibbers in York next Saturday.

Ozric Tentacles first met around a Stonehenge campfire in 1983, conjuring their name from hypothetical cereal brands and soon establishing themselves as a proto-hippy instrumental band.

“Last spotted at Fibbers in 2000, the Ozrics’ magic has continued ever since their first release, 1989’s Pungent Effulgent, which Fibbers long-timers will remember on permanent juke box rotation,” says promoter Tim Hornsby. Doors open at 7.30pm; Champignon support.
