Ligeti String Quartet, Unitarian Chapel, St Saviourgate, York, May 5
10:27am Friday 4th May 2012 in Music news and reviews
THE LIGETI String Quartet, the “new kids on the Late Music block”, will perform at the Unitarian Chapel, St Saviourgate, York, tomorrow night.
Their 7.30pm programme for the York Late Music series comprises Philip Glass’s String Quartets No 2 and 4, John Adams’s Fellow Traveller, Steve Crowther’s String Quartet No 1, series patron Nicola LeFanu’s String Quartet No 2 and the world premiere of a new work by David Lancaster, who will give a pre-concert talk at 6.45pm.
“The Ligeti String Quartet are starting to make a name for themselves,” says series administrator Steve Crowther. “They’re very personable – and the violinst, Richard Jones, went to the University of York.”
Tickets are available online at latemusic.org or on the door.
