WELSH singer Katherine Jenkins made her York Barbican debut last night in front of an auditorium packed with fans.

The multi-platinum selling mezzo-soprano was in York for her Daydream tour, which is her first theatre tour in four years.

Katherine performed songs from her latest album, also called Daydream, including a moving cover of the song I Will Always Love You, made famous by singer Whitney Houston, who sadly died last Saturday.

She said: “I had an amazing time on my first arena tour, but Daydream is a very intimate album and I wanted my tour to reflect that.”

The audience at last night’s show was also treated to some of her best-known songs from her last seven albums, including tracks from her debut album Premiere and her best-selling album Believe.

Did anyone have parking problems last night? i intended booking a act at the barbican for early next year a very kind young lady told me that they think the car park was closeng soon to build a fire station? so that's putting me off using the venue

The public park car behind the Barbican will remain open. The new fire station will be built beside it.

My wife and I were at Katherine's fantastic concert last night - but we never heard her sing "I will always love you". Who wrote this report? You obviously weren't there. Did anyone else NOT hear it?

I was also at the concert last night and at no point did Katherine sing "I will always love you" on stage!! Perhaps the reviewer saw something we didn't???

No doppelganger it is definitely you!
I used to work at the same place as you many years ago and you now work at the Barbican Centre, even that is far too good for you!
