Bella Hardy scoops top prize at BBC Folk Awards

A York graduate scooped a top prize at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Singer-songwriter Bella Hardy, who graduated from York St John University in 2005, won an award for Best Original Song at the ceremony held at The Lowry in Salford. Her song, The Herring Girl, is from her current album Songs Lost & Stolen.

For the first time the Best Original Song prize was given to two winners, with Bella’s song and Steve Tilston’s The Reckoning sharing the honours.
