NORTH Eastern folk favourites The Unthanks will play An Intimate Evening at Pocklington Arts Centre on May 13.
Following their collaboration with the Brighouse And Rastrick Brass Band and the release of their album of live performances of Antony &The Johnsons and Robert Wyatt songs, the Unthank sisters will perform as a quintet at Pocklington as part of a tour of “cosier venues”.
“They played here once before when they were relatively unknown and we’re delighted to bring them back,” says arts centre manager Janet Farmer.
She is no less excited about signing up Johnny Cash’s Grammy Award-winning daughter, Rosanne Cash, for a concert with her producer husband, John Leventhal, on March 27.
“We’re absolutely over the moon as we’re big fans here and have been for a long time, playing her 10 Song Demo album regularly,” says Janet. “We contacted her through Twitter and within two days the show was booked.”
