A LEGENDARY American folk singer has announced a date at York Barbican.
Joan Baez will visit the venue on Sunday, February 26, as part of an extensive eighteen-date tour of the UK.
Joan holds the record for the most tickets sold for a non-classical concert at the York Barbican, having performed there previously in 1996 and 2004.
Since she began her residency at Boston’s Club 47 and her debut at the 1959 Newport Folk Festival, Joan has marched on the front line of the civil rights movement with Martin Luther King, sang on the first Amnesty International tour and stood alongside Nelson Mandela when the world celebrated his 90th birthday in London’s Hyde Park.
To buy tickets, priced £39.50, visit yorkbarbican.co.uk, phone 0844 854 2757 or visit the York Barbican box office from 10am to 2pm on Monday to Friday.
