SINGERS in York are being invited to join a new choir in time for its summer show at one of the city’s main theatres.

Prima Vocal Ensemble is led by the couple behind the successful choir Millegro, musical director Ewa Salecka and pianist Greg Birch.

Singers can join now as the choir prepares for its big summer choral show at Grand Opera House on June 22. No auditions are required, adults of all ages are welcome and no experience is necessary.

“The Opera House will be an exciting, unmissable experience,” say Ewa and Greg. “You will sing stunning music from Eric Whitacre, Ravel, Kurt Weill, Sting, Avatar, pop, gospel and more. Everyone can join us now to be a part of this event. Tenors and basses are particularly welcome.”

Prima Vocal Ensemble have been singing together since May last year and has already performed its debut concert.

The choir holds rehearsals in two locations. Daytime sessions are held on Wednesday from 11am to 1pm at St Olave’s Church Hall, Marygate Lane, York; evening sessions are held on Tuesday 7.45pm to 9.45pm at Tang Hall Community Centre, Fifth Avenue, York.

“The choir combines quality entertainment with a rewarding challenge, musical development, and a warm, supportive social network,” says Ewa.

“Being based solely in York, the choir reflects the element of local pride and identity that is such an important part of the lives of York residents,” adds Greg.
