Liverpool five-piece Sound Of Guns will follow up tomorrow’s appearance at the Leeds Festival with a York gig on their autumn headline tour.
They will play Fibbers on October 7 in the wake of the September 27 release of their new single, Elementary Of Youth, through Distiller Records.
Mixed by Chris Potter, the song is accompanied by the new track Silent Canon on seven-inch and digital download formats.
Written and produced by the band in their Penny Lane studio, the raucous Elementary Of Youth is taken from the recently released debut album What Came From Fire.
Front-man Andrew Metcalfe reckons their music is “not your average Scouse sound”. “We didn’t have any boundaries – I love The Coral and The La’s and bands like that – but in terms of the music we wanted to make, that sound didn’t really appeal to us. We were all into The Walkmen, who make a big noise,” he says.
“I think people were expecting this typical Liverpool band, and that’s why people became interested so quickly; people seem to connect with the choruses.”
