BAROCCA’S all-female performance at the National Centre for Early Music in York on Friday has been cancelled as a result of unforeseen circumstances.
The innovative production by women from Britain, America, Canada, Greece, Italy and Hong Kong was to have combined Baroque music, period continuo and a multimedia dramatic presentation in a celebration of the Italian Baroque.
Giovan Battista Pergolesi’s sacred choral masterpiece Stabat Mater, Antonio Vivaldi’s cantata Nulla In Mundo, Pax Sincera and Claudio Monteverdi’s semi-opera Il Combattimento di Tancredi & Clorinda would have made up the programme to be performed on Baroque strings, harpsichord and lute.
