SCOTTISH folk-trio Lau – once hailed by the BBC for “injecting a freshness, vitality, vigour and excitement” into the genre – are to play Fibbers next month.
Lau, named after an Orcadian word meaning “natural light”, are Kris Drever on guitar and vocals, Martin Green, accordion and piano, and fiddle player Aidan O’Rourke.
The band has just landed the best group award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for the third year in a row.
Lau are exponents of modern traditional music. Always pushing new musical boundaries, the band has an almost orchestral quality to its intense and sometimes psychedelically tinged sound.
This is a band with something to say and the eloquence to say it, as you will discover if you pop along to Fibbers on March 7.
Tickets are £12 and Lau will be supported by Roscoe La Belle. Phone 01904 651250 or email fibbers@fibbers.co.uk
