BETH Orton had been lined up as one of the possible acts for the no-longer-happening Platform Festival but will play Pocklington after all this summer.

Negotiations have just been finalised for the 46-year-old BRIT Award-winning Norfolk singer-songwriter to perform with a full band at Pocklington Arts Centre on July 20, the night before she appears at the Kaleidoscope Festival in London.

Orton first made her mark working with William Orbit and the Chemical Brothers in the 1990s, before the solo success of her ground-breaking "folktronica" debut, Trailer Park, in 1996, since when she has released the Top 20 albums Central Reservation in 1999 and Daybreaker in 2002, plus Comfort Of Strangers in 2006 and Sugaring Season in 2012. By now a mother, her 2016 return, Kidsticks, echoed her earlier electronic sound.

"We're delighted to have secured a full band show with Beth, in the middle of her busy summer festival schedule," says venue manager James Duffy. "This will be only her second performance here following her sold-out appearance in 2014. Beth's show adds to our already busy summer period with Steve Harley, Gretchen Peters, The Lone Bellow and Irish Mythen all booked."

Tickets for Orton's 8pm gig cost £25 on 01759 301547 or at pocklingtonartscentre.co.uk
