STEVE Cassidy will pay tribute to his guitarist Steve Flanagan, who has died after a short illness, at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, York, on May 6.

Steve and his band also will showcase songs from his new album, Time And The Winding Road, recorded in York at Recaudio, the Fifth Avenue studio run by musician Dave Clements.

The new songs feature musical arrangements by George Hall, who will be part of Cassidy's line-up at the JoRo. "He's a brilliant musician who plays keyboards with Big Ian Donaghy and his party band Huge," says Steve. "The programme originally had been arranged by Steve Flanagan, our guitarist and musical arranger, but he has died after a short illness, and the band and I now want the concert to be a worthy tribute to Steve."

Saxophonist Diane Beal will not only perform with Steve's band, but also conduct the Community Chorus at the 7.30pm concert. "They were hugely enjoyed by the audience at previous concerts, and they go from strength to strength under Diane's musical direction," says Steve.

Ukulele player Mick Hull, who worked on the northern professional circuit as Micky Ramsbottom, will be playing too. "Completing the line-up will be the children from St George's School Choir, who never fail to delight with their singing and enthusiasm," says Steve.

Among the singers from the school where he was formerly the head teacher will be Agatha Meehan, fresh from playing the title role in the West End production of Annie at the Piccadilly Theatre. "Agatha will sing a solo as part of a remarkable and talented group of children," says Steve.

Tickets for the Steve Cassidy Band and co cost £10, concessions £9, family tickets £15, on 01904 501935 or at josephrowntreetheatre.co.uk
