FRANZ Ferdinand will play Leeds O2 Academy on February 19 on the Scots' 12-date tour in support of their February 9 album Always Ascending.

Released on Domino, the ten songs are being hailed as "nothing short of a rebirth", bursting with fresh ideas and vigorous sonic experimentation.

The album was recorded at RAK Studios in London and Motorbass in Paris with the help of French producer extraordinaire Philippe Zdar, who has worked previously with Cassius, Phoenix and The Beastie Boys, and now creates an exuberant, euphoric sound that singer Alex Kapranos refers to as “simultaneously futuristic and naturalistic".

The track listing will be: Always Ascending; Lazy Boy; Paper Cages; Finally; The Academy Award; Lois Lane; Huck And Jim; Glimpse Of Love; Feel The Love Go and Slow Don’t Kill Me Slow.

Franz Ferdinand last released an album in June 2015 when teaming up with Sparks as FFS. Their previous Franz Ferdinand album was Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action in August 2013.

Their Leeds support act will be Albert Hammond Jr, The Strokes' guitarist. Tickets are on sale at seetickets.com/event/franz-ferdinand/o2-academy-leeds/
