THE Waterboys will return to York Barbican on May 5 2018 after releasing their 12th studio album Out Of All This Blue last month.
The album is the first double disc by Mike Scott’s band, many of the impassioned songs bearing witness to Scott being a man in love after marrying controversial Japanese artist Megumi Igarashi.
Mike Scott: "One of those times"
“Sometimes my music comes round to a place where it touches pop,” he says. “I love when that happens and this is one of those times.”
The Waterboys have beaten a regular path to York in recent years, playing the Barbican in March 2012; December 2013, on their Fisherman's Blues Revisited 25th anniversary tour; August 2014 and November 2015.
Tickets for next May's York gig go on sale tomorrow (Friday) from 10am at york barbican.co.uk or on 0844 854 2757. The Waterboys will play further Yorkshire shows at Halifax Victoria Hall on May 9 and Hull City Hall on May 10.
