BBC Radio 2 presenters Bob Harris and Jamie Cullum have been incredibly supportive of Wildwood Kin over the past few months.
So much so that the fledgling band are joining the ranks of Take That, Blondie, James Blunt, Shania Twain, The Stereophonics and Seth Lakeman at this weekend’s high-profile Festival in a Day broadcast from Hyde Park.
The Exeter trio consists of sisters Emillie and Beth Key and cousin Meghann Loney. They are an instantly compelling vocal harmony group with the knack of writing accessible folk melodies that easily transfer to mainstream rock-pop audiences.
Regular contributors to the Celtic Connections festivals, Wildwood Kin have worked closely with Seth Lakeman, contrasting their celestial harmonies with his unique vocals.
Vocally, the obvious comparisons lie with Eighties' West Coast act Wilson Phillips, Fleetwood Mac or Crosby, Stills and Nash. The band’s own songs showcase a truly remarkable vocal unit capable of heavenly harmonies, but they fail to deliver that all-important killer hit. With stronger material Wildwood Kin should be set to become global sensations.
