CULT Liverpool songwriter Michael Head is to release his first album of new material in 11 years in the autumn.

Recorded under the name of Michael Head & The Red Elastic Band, Adiós Señor Pussycat will be out on Violette Records on October 20, featuring 13 tracks produced by guitarist Steve Powell and Head, the 55-year-old former frontman of The Pale Fountains, Shack And The Strands.

The track listing will be Picasso; Overjoyed; Picklock; Winter Turns To Spring; Workin' Family; 4&4 Still Makes 8; Queen Of All Saints; Josephine; Lavender Way; Rumer; Wild Mountain Thyme; What's The Difference and Adios Amigo Since a self-imposed hiatus in 2008, Head has been working with the fluid concept of an ever-rotating band format to provide a flexible platform for his live and recorded works.

Under the guise of Michael Head & The Red Elastic Band, he released a debut EP, Artorius Revisited, in 2013, followed by a double A-sided seven inch, Velvets In The Dark and Koala Bears in 2015. Adiós Señor Pussycat was made in his hometown of Liverpool between March 2016 and June 2017 as the culmination to four years of hard graft.

Head will play four dates over the coming months, alas none of them in Yorkshire. Devotees will have to travel to Union Chapel, London, on September 8; Oran Mor, Glasgow, October 5; St George's, Bristol, November 25, and Invisible Wind Factory, Liverpool, December 16.
