IT WAS indeed inspired casting securing Joe McElderry to play the lead in the classic Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice masterpiece Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

A regular in the role since January 2016, McElderry has proved he is the consummate musical theatre star, the perfect pop star and the immaculate fit for the multicoloured garment.

Joe is now on an extensive UK concert tour accompanied by fellow Joseph alumni Keith Jack, Ben James-Ellis and The X Factor’s Lloyd Daniels. The tour includes a highlight in the Grand Opera House diary in York: August 9. Audiences can expect McElderry to perform his take on Can’t Help Falling In Love, Daydream Believer and I’m Into Something Good, all present and correct on Saturday Night At The Movies.

Sure, Joe has played very safe on the silver screen-themed collection, but at least every song is a winner under the expert and affectionate production of Tom DeKeyser and Elliot Davis. Davis and 10cc’s legendary Graham Gouldman provide the inspirational stand-out track, the new Gloria.
